Matthew Hernandez is a Hispanic/Latino actor based in Miami, with roots in California, Puerto Rico, and Texas… because staying in one place has never really been his thing. He is currently a senior at Florida International University, where he will be receiving his BFA in Musical Theatre, as well as a Minor in Music. His love for music and storytelling began at birth, when he entered the world singing the entire score of The Phantom of the Opera. Any doubters can contact his mother. Matthew has been immersed in the arts ever since, with a background in choir, marching band, and musical theatre. He also spent time swimming, diving, and playing basketball in a valiant attempt to fulfill his parents dream of having an athletic son. Dont worry, his brother has that covered.

This summer, he will be performing at the Texas Shakespeare Festival in Hamlet, 1776, and The Reluctant Dragon. When not on stage, Matthew can be found in the red zone at Orange Theory Fitness (if you know, you know), aggressively tanning at the beach, or belting out songs while playing the piano with friends.

He’s often told he’s funny, though he is still not entirely sure why.
